Italian and Jordanian Experts Unite in Amman to Shape the Future of
Heritage Conservation and Construction
Amman, April 10, 2025 —
This week, the Century Park Hotel in Amman hosted Building a Legacy: Best Practices in Architectural Conservation and Construction Techniques, a landmark event that brought together leading Italian and Jordanian experts, institutions, and companies. The workshop was organized by Sela for Training and Protection of Heritage in partnership with the Petra Development and Tourism Regional Authority (PDTRA).
The event forms part of the broader initiative Jordanian Archaeology as a Sustainable Industry (JASI), supported by the Drosos Foundation and PDTRA. It highlighted the importance of cross-sector collaboration, innovation, and dialogue between the cultural heritage conservation and construction industries to safeguard Jordan’s built heritage.
The morning session featured high-level presentations from both Jordanian and Italian professionals, including:
● Dr. Rami Daher (Turath), who delivered the keynote address

● CESF – Perugia/Amman, on training and safety in heritage conservation

● Tosti Associati, presenting integrated architectural approaches to conservation

● Polygon Center, showcasing advanced rope access techniques for monument restoration

The afternoon session ignited a lively discussion on the intersections and divergences between conservation practices and the modern construction industry in Jordan. Attendees included representatives from Kimia, an Italian leading company specialized in high-performance solutions for building restoration, structural consolidation, and architectural heritage conservation, El. En. Electronic Engineering S.p.A., specialized in laser systems for the conservation and cleaning of cultural heritage, the Jordanian Engineers
Association, Jordanian construction firms, national and international academic institutions and organizations.
A notable highlight was the recognition of the winning student project from a national heritage conservation competition launched by Sela in 2024. The award celebrated the creativity and technical skill of emerging Jordanian talent contributing innovative solutions to preserve the country’s archaeological legacy.
The event concluded with a vibrant networking and exhibition session, where participating companies from Italy and Jordan showcased their products, technologies, and case studies to key stakeholders and decision-makers.
This Amman-based forum launched a four-day workshop, which continues in Petra, offering local professionals hands-on training in advanced conservation techniques and contributing to long-term capacity building in heritage preservation across Jordan.

خبراء إیطالیون وأردنیون یجتمعون في عمّان لاستشراف مستقبل حفظ التراث والبناء
عمّان، 10 نیسان 2025 —
استضاف فندق سینشري بارك في عمّان ھذا الأسبوع فعالیة متمیزة بعنوان:
“بناء إرث: أفضل الممارسات في تقنیات حفظ التراث المعماري والبناء”،
والتي جمعت نخبة من الخبراء والمؤسسات والشركات من إیطالیا والأردن. نظّمت الفعالیة شركة سیلا للتدریب و حفظ التراث، بالتعاون مع سلطة إقلیم البترا التنموي السیاحي PDTRA.
تأتي ھذه الفعالیة ضمن إطار مشروع علم الآثار الأردني كصناعة مستدامةJASI ، المدعوم من مؤسسة دروسوس وسلطة إقلیم البترا، وھدفت إلى تعزیز الحوار والتعاون بین قطاعي حفظ التراث وقطاع البناء، حیث یتم تسلیط الضوء على أھمیة الابتكار وتكامل التخصصات في حمایة التراث المعماري الأردني.
شھدت الجلسة الصباحیة عروضًا تقدیمیة متخصصة من قبل خبراء أردنیین وإیطالیین، من أبرزھم:
● الدكتور رامي ظاھر (تراث)، الذي ألقى الكلمة الافتتاحیة

●CESF – بیروجیا / عمّان، حول التدریب والسلامة في مشاریع حفظ التراث

● مكتب توستي المعماري، حول مقاربات معماریة متكاملة في الترمیم

● مركز بولیغون، حول تقنیات الوصول بالحبال في ترمیم الآثار

أما الجلسة المسائیة فقد شھدت نقاشًا غنیًا حول التقاطعات والفجوات بین قطاع حفظ التراث وقطاع الإنشاءات الحدیث في الأردن، وحضر الجلسة ممثلون عن شركة كیمیا، وھي شركة إیطالیة رائدة متخصصة في حلول عالیة الأداء لترمیم المبانى، تدعیم الھیاكل، والحفاظ على التراث المعماري، وشركة إل. إن. الھندسة الإلكترونیة ش.م.م، المتخصصة في أنظمة اللیزر لحفظ وتنظیف التراث الثقافي، ونقابة المھندسین الأردنیین، وشركات بناء أردنیة، ومؤسسات وھیئات أكادیمیة وطنیة ودولیة
ومن أبرز محطات الیوم تكریم مشروع الطالب الفائز في مسابقة وطنیة للحفاظ على التراث أطلقتھا شركة سیلا عام ٢٠٢٤. وقد احتفت الجائزة بالإبداع والمھارة التقنیة للمواھب الأردنیة الناشئة التي ساھمت في تقدیم حلول مبتكرة للحفاظ على التراث الأثري للبلاد.
واختُتمت الفعالیة بجلسة عرض شبكي ومعرض تقني، أتیحت خلالھا الفرصة للشركات الأردنیة والإیطالیة لعرض تقنیاتھا ومنتجاتھا ودراسات الحالة أمام صانعي القرار وأصحاب المصلحة في القطاع.
وقد شكّلت ھذه الفعالیة في عمّان انطلاقة لورشة عمل میدانیة استمرت أربعة أیام في البترا، خضع خلالھا المھنیون المحلیون لتدریب عملي على تقنیات الحفظ المتقدمة، بھدف تعزیز القدرات الوطنیة في مجال حفظ التراث الثقافي في الأردن.
